If You WANT to RUN for STUDENT COUNCIL OFFICE:
Step 1: Review the Constitution to understand the duties and responsibilities, as well as the eligibility rules for each of the elected positions.
Step 2: Decide which position that you would like to apply to be a candidate for office. Complete this APPLICATION and submit it by 5 pm Wednesday August 25th. Make sure you access the form using your Student account. Plan to attend the INTEREST MEETING on 8/25 where you will be interviewed by the advisor. You must complete an interview in order to run for office. If you are unable to attend the meeting, but wish to run for OFFICE, you MUST see Ms. DeBose in room 517 prior to the Interest meeting.
Step 3: After all interviews have been completed, the advisor will contact you via your email regarding your candidate status. Per our Constitution, only 3 candidates per office will be allowed to run. Rules for campaign speeches and virtual posters will be given at that time. You will receive this email by 6 pm August 24th. No campaigning can begin until you receive the email.
Step 4: Elections will be virtual again this year. Each candidate will create and submit 1) a video of your campaign speech, 2) a google slide that will act as your campaign poster, and 3) Video/Social Media/permission forms signed by your parents to the advisor by due date outlined in the rules. Failure to submit these things will invalidate your candidate status. You will also be able to post up to 3 posters in specific assigned areas of the school for maximum visibility. Make sure posters have been proofread and have been approved by the advisor before hanging.
Step 5: Speeches and Posters will go live the week of August 30th-Sept 3rd. Voting will take place during that week during class (to be determined on team). All votes must be submitted by 3 pm Friday Sept. 3rd. Winners will be announced on our Website Home Page/Social Media and the Announcements on the School's Website by 5 pm September 3rd.
Homeroom Reps will be chosen by homerooms by Sept 8th.
